At the core of this film is what some people might call a gimmick...we prefer to call it "the concept".
As far as science can determine, self-reflection is one of the major attributes that seperates creatures deemed to be intelligent from those considered "stupidy-dumb-dumbs".
Higher apes, especially orangutans, dolphins, and of course, humans all share this hieghtened awareness of self. Among other things, all have the ability to recognize themselves in a mirror, unlike many other animals.
With the awareness of self comes an inherent and deeper comprehension of infinity, because for one to look upon one's self is a perfect model of an infinite loop.
The following statement is true. The preceeding statement is false.
It is this infinite loop that also may be seen in the construct of our universe. Much like the human brain there is no one place any person who is within the construct could view the entire construct, for that person would not be able to see the spot upon which they stand. That is, unless you throw in self-reflection. Then one could sit and think about the part of their brain that is thinking about the part of thier brain that is thinking about the part of the brain that is...etc. It is only imagination that allows for us to see into the great forever.
God (or any diety figure) is that which we can never become, because God is a representation of a being that is the sum of the parts. One that can see the entire loop. It's the difference between being a grain of sand and being a shoreline.
A unity is formed from an infinite loop. This can be displayed in a microphone that has feedback. The mic hears the sound it is sending to the speakers and therfore replicates the sound of itself, until eventually it crescendos into a high pitched hum. From a huge number of replicated sound waves comes one unified sound. Just as, only together can all things in our universe move together in order to form the universe itself.
Another important image concerning this topic is the spiral. A spiral is a wonderful representation of natural order. Just as a spiral, all things seem to come out of nothing and lead up to the present moment. The history of the world, embryonic development, etc.
These ideas make the groundwork for ...the making of...
Which is why it is named "...the making of...", because it is actually, ...the making of the making of the making of the making of the maiking of the making of the making of the making of the making of the making of the making - well you get the idea.
So, I decided to make the film set a closed universe, with the director character as the diety figure.
By the way, did I mention it is a kooky crazy comedy, that packs a whallop of a funny-punch?
